My Best Friend broke the news to me that she and her family will be relocating to Australia next year. I was sad, stumped and somehow, a part of me suddenly felt very empty.
We were colleauges to begin with. Didn't talk much at first, but when we found out we were both of the same age, a part of us just naturally clicked! She was the first close friend I bonded strongly with after another close friend of mine (from secondary school)went back to Ipoh. Back then, she was preparing for her wedding and I could see how happy and excited she was. I was happy for her too! I wasn't married then, she was worried that I was in a non-committment relationship. Finally when I broke the news that I was getting hitched, at last! I could see she was the happiest person to share my joy.
I remember both of us sitting infront of her PC at work, surfing the ROM website to book me a date for registration.... that date was a chinese new year eve.
2004, she gave birth to her to first born... it was my turn to be worried for her as her due date got nearer... she had to go for Elective C-Sect. I visited her during her confinement and saw the cutest little gal ever. I was happy she had became a Mother.
A few months after her confinement, I visited her at her own home. Her baby had grown so much and was so cheery! I told my friend out loud that I wished my future baby would be like her daughter, so cheery and smiley!
2005, she was one of the few I shared my pregnancy news with. This time it was her turn to be happy n at the same time anxious for me. I took her advice and took great care of myself during the first crucial 3 months. She was also the first friend to visit me in hospital after my birth. She too came to chat with me during my confinement and taught me quite a lot! During then your wish was that our children could grow up together. I think your wish came true! :)
She was also with me when I suffered a miscarriage in 2006. 2006, was a great yr for both of us. We were both enjoying being Mothers.... 2006 she got pregnant again, gave birth in November to a baby boy.... I too became pregnant shortly!!!!
2007, she brought her kids to the hospital to visit me after my birth... she was the only friend who came... but that was enough.
We aren't just friends.... over the years we've shared many things... no secrets between us. We're like sisters. Though we don't meet nor chat daily... we are always in each others' thoughts. Just last night I was thinking about her and she too was thinking about me.
I know her move to her Australia would not change our relationship a single bit. Its a good thing technology is so advanced now. We have Skype, the blog, facebook etc to keep in touch. When my kids are older, the first place I bring them is to Australia.
Thank you for always being here for me B! From the start of our friendship, to my wedding, to the birth of my 3 kids!!!
